What is Jump Start?
Jump Start (JS) is a mandatory orientation program intentionally designed for incoming students and their parents. The program will include information on academics, student activities, student organizations, career services, residential living, international programs, and much more. College administrators, faculty, staff, and upper-division students will be available throughout the program to answer any questions about college life. JS will take place August 27th - August 29th, 2010. All first time college students are required to attend Jump Start and charged a fee that includes meals, materials, and activities.

Why attend Jump Start?
Studies have proven, college students who participate in orientation are much more likely to get involved and be successful in their academic pursuits. Because of this fact, we, as stated previously, require any student that is new to Rochester College and has taken less than 15 credit hours to attend. If you have 16 or more you are required to attended either the Freshman or transfer orientation on Monday, August 31st. Although parents are not required to attend we encourage attendance so that students and their parents can understand opportunities and expectations together as their students face their first year of college.
Welcome from Dean Hall.
I am so glad you are here at the new student orientation: Jump Start. This program has been developed specifically in order to help new students navigate the changes that will occur in their first year of college. From knowing who to contact when there are questions, getting around campus, what opportunities & services are available to students, and some insights into how we do things here - all very valuable to make your time here a great journey! Of course, we as educators know that knowing what is available is just the start - the participation part is up to you! If we can assist you in any way please let us know!
